22017 - HUA607Y
This
coach did not start life in either the Midland Red West
or Midland Red Coaches fleets. The vehicle was
transferred to First Midland Red in June 1998 from
Yorkshire Rider where it had been operating in their
Calderline fleet. The vehicle entered service at Evesham
still in full Calderline livery but by July 1998 it had
been repainted into the them standard red and cream
livery. The vehicle has operated from Evesham garage for
virtually the whole time with the Company, though it has
had brief periods at Worcester as the latter Garage was
responsible for the servicing of the vehicle. HUA607Y
was withdrawn from service during January 2003 and is
currently in store in the car park of the former dairy
at rear of Evesham Garage The vehicle was been
extensively vandalised so never re-entered service. Even
though the vehicle was withdrawn well before the
introduction of the new fleet numbering system it has
been renumbered 22017 (The vehicle never actually
carried the number). The vehicle was finally sold to PVS
Carlton for scrap during August 2004.

B100XTW
was new to Southend Transport in August 1984. It was
originally registered A251SYM and was numbered 251 in
their fleet. The vehicle was acquired in August 2003 by
First Midland Red from the vehicle dealer Stephenson of
Rochford and it arrived in a dealer white livery. The
vehicle entered service at Kidderminster Garage in
September 2003 as a replacement for the withdrawn 1012
(A896KCL) and is normally used on the 827 school
service. The vehicle was traded in for Q553UOC which was
sold to Stephenson of Rochford in exchange Over the 2003
Christmas period 1000 moved to Evesham Garage. The
vehicle was fitted with a ticket machine but unlike the
other coaches converted for bus work it was not any cash
trays for the driver or a cab door.

22018/5/1012 - EAH890Y,A895/6KCL
These
three coaches came into the Midland Red West fleet with
the purchase of Midland Red Coaches in 1986. The three
vehicles were new to Eastern Counties as LT890,895/6 and
were sold to Ambassador in September 1984 who initially
loaned them to Midland Red Coaches before they were
purchased shortly afterwards. In 1986 Midland Red West
renumbered the vehicles 1010-2. At this time 1010 was in
standard National Express livery whereas 1011 and 1012
were in Rapide version of the livery. By 1991 all three
were in the Midland Red Coaches all over red livery.
They were fitted for one person operation in the early
1990's. 1010 and 1011 are in store at Redditch Garage.
1012 was the last of the batch to be withdrawn in
September 2003. The vehicle had seen service at
Kidderminster Garage and was replaced by 1000 (B100XTW).
1012 was sold to First Berkshire in August 2003 for use
as a driver trainer. First Berkshire withdrew the
vehicle in March 2004 and sold it back to First Midland
where it re-entered passenger service at Evesham. The
vehicle has yet to be allocated a national fleet number
(22016 ??). Even though vehicles 1010/1 were withdrawn
well before the introduction of the new fleet numbering
system it has been renumbered 22018 and 22015
respectively.

22003/5/6 - B103/5/6JAB
In
1985 Midland Red West took delivery of six Leyland Tiger
coaches B102-107JAB (1002-7) for their new Midwest
coaching unit. With the purchase of Midland Red Coaches
in 1986 the vehicles were transferred into the new
coaching unit which used the Midland Red Coaches brand
name. Like all the other coaches in the coaching unit
they ended up in and all over red livery. When the
coaching unit was closed in January 1997 coaches 1005-7
were modified so they could be used on bus services
(1005 was converted in May 1997). Vehicles 1002/4 were
sold but 1003 had been stolen from Redditch Garage on
6th January 1996 and was finally recovered from Southern
Ireland in a silver/red/black livery with Coast Liner
fleet names and TJI 9009 registration plates. It
rejoined the fleet for use on bus services after
repainting into red and cream and the return of it's
proper registration mark of B103JAB in June 1999.
B107JAB (1007) was unfortunately written off after a
fire whist running back to Evesham Garage after working
a school service and has been sold for scrap.
