Plaxton Primo

The Plaxton Primo was produced between 2005 and 2010 as the result of a close collaboration between Enterprise Bus Ltd, the chassis manufacturer, and Plaxton. Built as an integral vehicle, the fully welded stainless-steel chassis was manufactured by Enterprise Bus Ltd and supplied to Plaxton as a complete running unit in right-hand-drive form. Final body assembly was then carried out at Plaxton's factory in Scarborough. The design was also offered for Continental European markets in both one and two-door left-hand-drive configurations. Many of the styling features first introduced on the Primo were later incorporated into the larger Plaxton Centro. Rotala initially purchased a number of Primos for use on tendered bus services in the West Midlands. However, several were subsequently transferred to the company's airport operations, where they were employed on airport transfer services operating under the Flights brand at a number of London airports. Although the Plaxton Primo did not prove to be the most reliable vehicle in service, several examples remained in the Diamond Bus fleet for a number of years, operating Transport for West Midlands tendered bus services before their eventual withdrawal.
