Optare Tempo

With the purchase of Johnson's Coaches' bus operations, four very unusual vehicles joined the Diamond Bus fleet at Redditch on Sunday 29 May 2022. These were Optare Tempo single-deck buses, a type that had never previously been operated by Rotala. All four vehicles had been part of the Johnson's fleet since new. As with the other vehicles acquired in the takeover, the Johnson's fleet branding was removed and replaced with Diamond Bus fleet names while the buses continued to operate in their existing Johnson's livery.  The shortest-lived of the four was vehicle 30981. It remained in the Diamond Bus fleet for only a matter of weeks before suffering a major engine failure. The cost of repair was considered uneconomic, and the vehicle was withdrawn from service and sold for scrap shortly afterwards.
