When Rotala purchased Diamond Bus from the Go Ahead group in 2008 they were keen to introduce some new vehicles to the fleet. These in the main were brand new Volvo B7 single deck vehicles with the new vehicles split between their Redditch and Tividale depots. To supplement these vehicles six nearly new Plaxton Centro bodied buses were acquired with MAN chassis. These have been since supplemented by a further few second hand vehicles. Diamond also introduced 23 brand new MAN vehicles into the fleet in 2010 with MCV bodies. These proved troublesome and because of issues with the warranties they were sold on mass to an operator in New Zealand where they were exported to in early 2012.

With the purchase of the South Lancashire Transport business that now trades as Diamond North West a number of vehicles with MAN chassis entered the Rotala fleet. In common with many vehicles in the South Lancs fleet many had SLT letters in their registrations. A number of these vehicles have moved around the wider M555SLT came to Kidderminster initially on loan to cover for vehicle shortages but has stayed at the Kidderminster depot to run alongside the MAN vehicles based at the depot.

Transport for West Midlands has received funding from Central Government to assist bus operators to upgrade the vehicle emissions of their buses. Much of the money has helped operators fit kit to the vehicle exhaust systems to improve the vehicles emission to meet Euro VI standard. However, there is an aspiration to get all buses in the West Midlands to zero emissions which means the use of either electric or hydrogen power. To demonstrate a more cost-effective way of achieving this several operators including Diamond bus are planning to convert diesel powered vehicles to electric power. The vehicles are having their existing engines and drive train removed and replaced with new electric kit provided by EV specialists, MAGTEC. The vehicles are fitted with 200 kWhr of battery energy storage. Diamond bus are converting five of their MAN chassis single deckers. The first of the five entered service in West Bromwich on 1st October 2021. During November 2024 30302 and 30804 moved temporarily to Diamond South East ahead of the introduction of electric vehicles in that fleet 30804 moved back to the West Midlands in April 2024.
