For
much of its history, there were no new Alexander Dennis
(ADL) products in the Rotala/Diamond Bus fleets. The
first factory-new ADL vehicles ordered directly by
Rotala did not arrive until 2024, when new buses were
purchased for the first tranche of Transport for Greater
Manchester (TfGM) franchised services. Prior to this,
the majority of new vehicle purchases for Rotala
operations had been from the Wrightbus product range.
This does not mean that ADL products were absent from
the fleet, as the company had operated a number of
ADL-built vehicles over the years, but these had all
been acquired either through second-hand purchases or as
part of the acquisition of other bus operators.
Following the delivery of the second batch of new ADL
single-deck vehicles for Manchester operations, further
examples were purchased to support both the Preston Bus
and West Midlands operations. To coincide with the
commencement of new Transport for West Midlands (TfWM)
contracts on Sunday 5th January 2025, three brand-new
ADL single-deck buses entered service from Diamond Bus
Tividale depot. The vehicles arrived in plain dealer
white and were introduced directly into service, rather
than receiving the full Diamond Bus livery prior to
operation. These vehicles marked an important milestone
in Diamond Bus history, representing the first new ADL
products purchased for West Midlands operations and the
beginning of a new relationship with the manufacturer.

In
September 2016, Moffat & Williamson, based at St Fort in
Scotland, took delivery of seven Alexander Dennis
Enviro200MCC single-deck vehicles. The first six
vehicles were built with 30-seat interiors and were
registered SN66 WHH/J/K/L/M/P, while the seventh
vehicle, registered SN66 WHR, was built to a
higher-capacity 40-seat specification. All seven
vehicles remained with Moffat & Williamson throughout
their operational lives until being withdrawn in early
2025. Following disposal, the six 30-seat examples were
purchased by The Bus and Coach Centre in Oxfordshire,
who subsequently sold them to Diamond Bus in February
2025. The vehicles were acquired for use within the
Diamond Bus West Midlands operation, adding further ADL
Enviro200MCC examples to the fleet. However, the
original plan for the whole batch to join the Rotala
fleet did not materialise, as replacement vehicles of
the same type were acquired instead. In the event, only
vehicles 20646 and 20647 entered the Rotala fleet from
the former Moffat & Williamson batch. The newly acquired
ADL Enviro200MCCs took fleet numbers 20648–20650 and,
rather than joining Diamond Bus, were allocated to the
Preston Bus operation.

operations. More recently, Rotala has been able to take
advantage of suitable ADL vehicles becoming available on
the market. To meet contractual requirements and support
the company's expanding operations, additional new ADL
vehicles have joined the wider Rotala fleet, marking a
significant change from the company's previous
purchasing strategy.

In March 2026 Diamond Bus started to take delivery of a
batch of 21 brand new Enviro 200 vehicles. The first
seven vehicles entered service on 1st March, with the
remaining 14 joining the fleet over the next few weeks.
Six of the new vehicles were allocated to the Redditch
depot to operate the services 98/99 in the Solihull
area. Many of the remaining vehicles will be allocated
to the Tividale depot to operate both the recently won
contract for the Service 19 from Merry Hill to the QE
Hospital and the soon to be operated service 27 which
will run between Solihull and Rubery. remainder will be
operating across a variety of other West Midlands-based
routes.
